Since 2018...

Our Community Engagement program has been providing support for DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) clients to access community-based activities and opportunities that add meaning and fulfillment to their lives. Community Engagement Facilitators spend time getting to know participants’ unique skills and interests and work with them to create meaningful access to memorable experiences.

Program Overview...

This program provides support for individuals with developmental disabilities to access resources and activities in their local communities, whether that means through volunteer activities, independent living skills, budget management, or exploring interests in the community. Participants can do things like volunteer in the community, explore the grandeur of nature, or pursue their interests with support from our trained Facilitators.

Program Components...

Community activities provide opportunities for participants to spur engagement and develop relationships with local residents. Our goal is to help guide participants toward community inclusion and kinship.

  • Goals are written by the DDA Case Resource Manager and the participant and can be specific and short-term, or more broad and long-term.
  • We will help to identify smaller steps to reach the bigger goal and be there to coach them along the way.
  • We can also support and aid the participation in clubs, groups, organizations, or other civic activities.

Getting Started...

Individuals who would like to participate in this program should contact their Case Manager with DDA and ask if they are eligible for the service.

If you are not yet a DDA client, you can go to https://www.dshs.wa.gov/dda/consumers-and-families/eligibility to determine if you qualify for DDA services, and apply. Once you have a DDA case manager, they will send Concerned Citizens a referral.
